Is Roger Goodell Good For The NFL?

NFL Commissioner Is there any question Roger Goodell is the most powerful man in sportsnf? The National Football League, for which he is the Commissioner, is the most successful professional sports league in the world, and enjoys television ratings second to none.

Much of this can be credited to Goodell, who took the reins of the NFL just ahead of the opening kickoff for the 2006 season. So why do some players insist he’s terrible for the NFL? In short, it’s the classic, age-old battle between labor and management.

The National Football League is a private organization in which the interests of the league’s 32 team-owners are represented by Goodell, while the interest of the players, as members of the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), are represented by NFLPA President Domonique Foxworth and selected player-reps from various teams. 2012 NFL Power Rankings | Preseason Edition

nfl power rankings

With the 2012 NFL Season set to start in a few weeks we put together our preseason power rankings based upon the free agent signings, NFL Draft, and the preseason thus far. Week 2 of the preseason continues tonight with six games scheduled and concludes Sunday night after the Eagles at Patriots game. While we don’t truly get to see how teams’ starting rosters will look until the third preseason game, we have plenty of information to start formulating our thoughts.

1. New England Patriots (13-3)

The Patriots added depth on their defense and should have some more speed on offense while giving the bulk of the carries to Stevan Ridley this season. The addition of Brandon Lloyd gives Brady and Belichick yet another toy to play with.

2. Green Bay Packers (12-4)

The team with the best record in the 2011 regular season was abruptly knocked out of the playoffs by the Super Bowl champs. This team’s weakness is clearly their rushing attack and NFL-worst total defense. Aaron Rodgers clearly covers up many of their blemishes but he needs more help if they expect to be at the top. 2012 Fantasy Football | Wide Receiver Rankings

Can you hear that Megatron? You’re number one in our preseason rankings!

The following is our 2012 fantasy football wide receiver rankings. These projections are based on the following scoring: 6 points for touchdowns, 0.5 for catches, 1 point for every 10 yards. As you will read, Calvin Johnson is by far in a way the #1 wide receiver this year and should be drafted as such. The Detroit Lions will be in a lot of shootouts and that means catches, yards, and of course, touchdowns for Megatron.

There are some unknowns in these rankings – will Wes Welker remain happy without an extension? Who will be the #1 guy in San Diego? Will Randy Moss take catches away from Crabtree? All of these questions remain to be answered, but we did our best to predict the future.  (more…)
